Skill Set

More about me

A Passionate Programmer

I like Technology (Phones, Tablets, Computers, Smartwatches, Apps, Coding),

Science (Biology, Physics, Chemistry),

Math (Numbers, Algebra, Graphs, Shapes, Angles, Geometry, Ratio, Fractions, etc.), and

I am part of the following, at my school:

  • Astronomy Club

  • SST Inc. ICT Talent Development Programme (TDP)

Interests

Technology: Coding/Programming | Since primary school, I have been amused by how computers, tablets, phones and smart watches function, from the hardware to the software, the smoothness of the user interface and the shape and structure of the electronic device all seem to work hand in hand flawlessly together, helping us carry out our daily functions and necessities, bringing us closer to the world, and letting us control many things and gain more knowledge just at our fingertips. But what does it take to make such things happen? It is all in the apps, operating system and the physical device. The physical device is made by manufacturers (how would I even know how to make a game-changing device when), while the operating system is made by technology companies that have been around for several decades, so they are too tough for competition (as in creating an entirely new operating system to challenge them), slo the easiest way to start off (for me) was to learn some basics of programming (or coding). I got the opportunity to learn coding in P6 (Hour of Code) and I have enjoyed it a lot. This year, I mastered block programming (Thunkable and scratch).  I hope to learn more about some other programming languages that I have touched on recently (Python, Javascript, CSS, Swift, Arduino-C/C++ and many more), to create apps to impact the society and others.

Math | Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering, and even sports. I love mathematics not only because there are many problems to solve. Instead I love it as it is like an art, like English or Chinese. Though there are lots of formulas to memorise; and steps to solve each question or problem, I enjoy coming up with different approaches and methods to solve each and every question. A question may be easy, but there are always ways to find faster and more efficient methods to solve them, like there are many routes and ways to get to another place. Whenever I do math, it is like I am in a whole new and yet fun theme park or world, everything is entertaining. Algebra, Geometry, Graphs, Ratio, Whole Numbers, Fractions, 3D figures, Estimation and Approximation are all very cool to me.

Science | I love science too.
There is Physics - the natural science that studies matter, its motion, and behaviour or through space and time, and that studies the related entities of energy and force. Physics is one of the most fundamental scientific disciplines, and its main goal is to understand how the universe behaves. I love forces and matter as I want to find out why things happen in a certain way like falling, moving, changing in state, temperature, gases.
There is also Chemistry - the scientific discipline involved with elements and compounds composed of atoms, molecules and ions: their composition, structure, properties, behaviour and the changes they undergo during a reaction with other substances. I also revel in it as i get to discover many different chemicals and what occurs when they are mixed together, and also the mass of each element in the periodic table.
And Lastly, Biology - the natural science that studies life and living organisms, including their physical structure, chemical processes, molecular interactions, physiological mechanisms, development and evolution. Despite the complexity of the science, there are certain unifying concepts that consolidate it into a single, coherent field. Biology recognises the cell as the basic unit of life, genes as the basic unit of heredity, and evolution as the engine that propels the creation and extinction of species. Living organisms are open systems that survive by transforming energy and decreasing their local entropy to maintain a stable and vital condition defined as homeostasis. I love it because it is intriguing to discover how we came about, how other animals, bacteria, fungi, viruses and plants live and the ways they react to each other as well as the surroundings.  I am also puzzled to find out what goes on in our body after eating, digesting, talking, thinking, running and all the daily activities that we do.

Astronomy | Wow, Astronomy my favourite, that's why I decided to join Astronomy Club
Astronomy is the scientific study of celestial objects (such as stars, planets, comets, and galaxies) and phenomena that originate outside the Earth's atmosphere (such as the cosmic background radiation).
There are a few reasons why I like astronomy, including:

  1. There are many things in space that have not yet been discovered and I would like to explore them in person, on the internet or closely observing the celestial happenings and reactions.

  2. Astronomy is like a subject, and in fact, it is part of physics, so if you are good at studying or can cope manageably it would not be much of a problem.

  3. There are many concepts and theories that people have discovered (Big Bang Theory, The great filter, the gravitational force on the moon is weaker than on Earth, Mars has polar ice caps, the moon has weird craters, Venus is too hot to live in, Mercury has no moons, the asteroid belt has some dwarf planets in it, Jupiter has lots of gas around it, and also stand storms very frequently, Saturn has 7 main rings, Uranus is tilted to one side, Pluto's orbit is irregular) and I would like to travel to space or study the facts to find out more about it.

Programming/Coding

My Programming Knowlege

01

Swift - Storyboards and swiftui, Objective-C (XCODe)

I learnt Swift, a general-purpose, multi-paradigm, compiled programming language developed by Apple Inc., from SST Incorporated, a Talent Development Program, that cultivates an interest for ICT, in my school, as well as from ICT Lessons and the Swift Accelerator Programme funded by the IMDA and Apple, for app development in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and Linux, in Xcode, an integrated development environment for macOS containing a suite of software development tools developed by Apple for developing software for macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

SwiftUI is an innovative, exceptionally simple way to build user interfaces across all Apple platforms with the power of Swift. Build user interfaces for any Apple device using just one set of tools and APIs.

02

java, KOtlin

(Android Studio)

I learnt Java, a general-purpose programming language that is class-based, object-oriented, and designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible, originally developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems (which has since been acquired by Oracle), from SST Incorporated, a Talent Development Program, that cultivates an interest for ICT, in my school, for app development in Android, in Android Studio, the official integrated development environment (IDE) for Google's Android operating system, built on JetBrains' IntelliJ IDEA software and designed specifically for Android development. It is available for download on Windows, macOS and Linux based operating systems.

03

Dart (Flutter)

I learnt Dart, a optimised programming language for apps on multiple platforms. It is developed by Google and is used to build mobile, desktop, server, and web applications. Dart is an object-oriented, class-based, garbage-collected language with C-style syntax. Dart can compile to either native code or JavaScript., as I was interested in Cross-Platform Development for app development projects, in Flutter,  an open-source UI software development kit created by Google. It is used to develop applications for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, Linux, Google Fuchsia and the web.

04

JavaScript, HTML and CSS

I learnt these 3 languages as I was interested in Website Making, and improving my previous website.

JavaScript, often abbreviated as JS, is a programming language that conforms to the ECMAScript specification. It is high-level, often just-in-time compiled, and multi-paradigm. It has curly-bracket syntax, dynamic typing, prototype-based object-orientation, and first-class functions.

Cascading Style Sheets, abbreviated as CSS, is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language like HTML.

Hypertext Markup Language, abbreviated as HTML, is the standard markup language for documents designed to be displayed in a web browser.

Some resources/websites/frameworks include, Node.JS, w3schools, Grasshopper

05

Python

I learnt Python, an interpreted, high-level, general-purpose programming language. Its design philosophy emphasises code readability with its notable use of significant whitespace.

It was created by Guido van Rossum and first released in 1991, during ICT Lessons at my school

The development environment I used was IDLE

06

JS (React native)

I learnt React Native, an open-source mobile application framework created by Facebook. It is used to develop applications for Android, iOS, Web and UWP by enabling developers to use React along with native platform capabilities, as I was interested in Cross-Platform Development for app development projects

07

C# (Xamarin, UNITY)

I learnt Xamarin, a free and Open source app development platform for building Android and iOS apps with .NET and C#, as I was interested in Cross-Platform Development for app development projects.

I also learnt how to make a simple go-karting game with pre-made models, graphics and code provided in Unity.

01

C++, C (XCODE)

I learnt C and C++, so as to expand my programming knowledge. C++ is a general-purpose programming language created by Bjarne Stroustrup as an extension of the C programming language, or "C with Classes", while C is a general-purpose, procedural computer programming language supporting structured programming, lexical variable scope, and recursion, with a static type system. By design, C provides constructs that map efficiently to typical machine instructions.
